Bordeaux Pyramid Salt is flake salt with a distinctive pyramid shape, designed primarily for finishing dishes and making a striking presentation on the plate. The delicate, brittle pyramids are noticeably different from ordinary fine or coarse salt: they break easily between your fingers and create a crunchy sensation when added just before serving.

What is pyramid salt?

The name describes the geometric shape of the crystals. Their distinctive structure creates thin surfaces and a low density compared with solid grains of salt. This product is often used as a finishing salt when we want the salt to be a visible part of the final presentation.

Texture and flavor experience

The pyramids crumble easily and provide a brief crunchy sensation. Since the size and shape of the crystals affect how we perceive saltiness, using them is different from dissolving fine salt into a dish.

How to use it

Add a small amount at the end, over grilled meat, fish, vegetables, potatoes, salads, or eggs. For smaller pieces, gently crush the pyramids between your fingers just before serving. Adding them at the end helps preserve their distinctive texture.

With meat and BBQ

On steak, burgers, or grilled meat, a few flakes added after cooking create a different result from salting the marinade. The crunchy texture remains noticeable on the surface and allows for more precise final seasoning.

With salads and vegetables

It pairs well with tomatoes, grilled vegetables, baked potatoes, and salads where texture matters. Add it after the dressing and other liquid ingredients, so the pyramids do not dissolve before the dish reaches the table.

In baking and desserts

A small amount of finishing salt can be used with chocolate, caramel, and desserts where a sweet-and-salty contrast is desired. Use it sparingly so that the salt provides contrast rather than dominating.

Why add it at the end

If the delicate pyramids are added early to liquid or to food with high moisture content, they dissolve and their distinctive structural advantage is lost. For salting during cooking, you can use another suitable salt and reserve the pyramids for the finishing touch.

Storage

Salt absorbs moisture from its surroundings. Keep the package tightly sealed in a completely dry place and away from kitchen steam. Do not put a wet spoon or wet hands inside the package, as moisture can alter the brittle crystal structure.

Use in moderation

Pyramid salt is a culinary finishing product, but it is still salt. Use a small amount depending on the recipe and your personal dietary needs.
