Pepper Verbena
Verbena Pepper is one of the rarest and most sought-after peppers in the world, with an aromatic profile reminiscent of verbena and lemon with a slight peppery note. It belongs to the category of gourmet peppers primarily used by chefs to elevate dishes, sauces, and sweet creations.
The spice we use
We use whole, dried Verbena berries in their natural form. Unprocessed, without additives or preservatives. They are used whole or ground immediately before use for maximum aromatic intensity.
Botanical identity
Verbena Pepper comes from the plant Piper verbenum, family Piperaceae. It is cultivated in regions of Southeast Asia and is known in chef's kitchens for its unique aromatic character.
Aroma, color, and taste
Aromatic profile with intense notes of verbena, lemon, and a slight spicy warmth. The taste is unexpected and different from common peppers — less pungent, more aromatic. Black-brown color with a slight dark hue.
How it is used
Excellent as a finishing spice on fish and poultry meats. It pairs exceptionally well with seafood, citrus salads, and in confectionery for chocolate truffles and citrus creams. If you love rare peppers, also check out Voatsiperifery Bourbon Pepper for an equally impressive flavor experience.
Combinations
It pairs perfectly with white cheese, ricotta, and pink peppers for complex combinations with a multifaceted aromatic identity. Excellent with dark chocolate and caramel in sweet creations.
Natural appearance
Small, round berries, black-brown color with a slight dark hue. Similar in size to black pepper, but with a distinctly different aromatic footprint.
Storage
In a sealed container, away from light, moisture, and heat. Use whole or ground immediately before use.
Precautions
It belongs to the Piperaceae family. Allergy to black pepper is rare but exists. Consult a doctor during pregnancy or if taking anticoagulants.
