German Mineral Salt Granule

German Mineral Salt Granule is a coarse-grained mineral salt with white to translucent crystals and a clean, direct salty taste. The granule form is especially practical for those who prefer to grind salt when using it, as well as for culinary applications that call for larger grains. The natural variation in crystal size and transparency is part of the product’s distinctive appearance.

The salt we use

We use coarse-grained Granule mineral salt sourced from Germany. The grains are not finely ground and retain their solid crystalline appearance. Their size is suitable for use in a compatible salt mill, and they can also be crushed in a mortar when more controlled grinding is desired. Uniformity between the grains is not intended, so slight variations from batch to batch are normal.

Origin and identity

The mineral salt comes from underground deposits formed geologically from ancient bodies of salt water. As the water evaporated over very long periods, layers of salt remained and were subsequently covered by other geological materials. Mining and sorting produce the salt in its characteristic crystalline form. Unlike sea salt produced in modern salt pans, this product’s identity is linked to its natural mineral deposit and the coarse form of its crystals.

Aroma, color and taste

The color is white to slightly translucent, with varying degrees of transparency among the grains. The aroma is neutral and the taste is purely salty, with no added aromatic elements. When ground more finely, it distributes quickly throughout food, while a coarser grind gives it a more noticeable presence and slower dissolution.

How to use it

The Granule form is ideal for a salt mill, provided its mechanism is suitable for the size of the grains. It can be ground directly over a dish or during cooking. It can also be used in water for pasta, rice and vegetables, as well as in soups, sauces, roasts and marinades. For larger natural crystals, see Halite (Halit) Salt Crystals 2–5 cm, while for a different mineral salt, try Persian Blue Salt.

Pairings

It pairs well with meat, poultry and fish, as well as potatoes and roasted vegetables. It can be used in legumes, pasta, rice and homemade sauces, or for final seasoning after freshly grinding. For a more intense aromatic character, you can also try Pakistani Smoked Salt.

Natural appearance

The grains are coarse, white to transparent, and have natural edges, small fractures and variations in size. These differences are expected in a coarse-grained mineral product and are not an indication of spoilage. The photo shows the product’s general appearance, but its exact appearance may vary slightly due to natural differences.

Storage

Store German Mineral Salt Granule in a cool, dry place, protected from moisture and strong odors. After opening, seal the package tightly or use a dry container with a lid. Moisture may cause the grains to clump together, but this does not necessarily mean the product has spoiled.

Precautions

Like all salts, it is a significant source of sodium and should be consumed in moderation as part of a balanced diet. People following a sodium-restricted diet or who have received specific medical instructions should follow the advice of their doctor or healthcare professional.
