Dehydrated tomato powder
Dehydrated tomato powder is made from high-quality, ripe tomatoes that are dehydrated and ground into a fine, uniform powder. It concentrates all the sweet, intense flavor and umami character of fresh tomatoes into a fine, easy-to-use form. It is ideal for sauces, soups, pasta, and baking because it mixes evenly and adds flavor to any recipe without the need for boiling or grating.
The ingredient we use
We use high-quality, ripe tomatoes, dehydrated at a controlled temperature and ground into a fine, uniform powder, raw, without additives or colorings. The color is deep red to terracotta, characteristic of dehydrated tomato. The powder is fine and dissolves easily in liquids and doughs.
Botanical identity
The tomato (Solanum lycopersicum, fam. Solanaceae) originates from Central and South America and is cultivated all over the world. The vibrant color of the powder comes from the high lycopene content of the tomato. In the Mediterranean, the tomato has been used for centuries as a staple ingredient in cooking.
Aroma, color, and taste
Deep red to terracotta color with a calm, glossy texture. The aroma is intense, sweet, and slightly tart—instantly recognizable as tomato. The taste is rich, sweet-and-sour with a deep umami character—much more concentrated than fresh tomato, making it ideal even in small quantities.
How to use
Add 1–2 tablespoons directly into sauces and pasta for instant tomato flavor without boiling. Excellent on pizza, focaccia, and bread as a topping or in the dough. Add to meat recipes and risotto. See also our Sun-dried Tomatoes for an even more intense tomato flavor.
Combinations
With basil, oregano, and thyme for a classic Italian base. With garlic and paprika for a roasting sauce. With black pepper and hot paprika for a barbecue sauce. With capers and olives for a puttanesca-style sauce.
Physical appearance
Fine, uniform powder of a deep red-terracotta color with a calm, glossy texture.
Storage
In a cool and dark place, in an airtight container. Keeps for up to 2 years.
