Wiri Wiri Peppers
Wiri Wiri peppers are tiny, spherical chili peppers from Guyana, South America, iconic in the country's traditional cuisine. Despite their size (1–2 cm), they possess an impressive dual identity: pungency reaching 100,000–350,000 Scoville units and a fruity flavor reminiscent of ripe tomato. They are one of the most distinctive Caribbean chilis, with a character unlike any other.
The chili we use
Dried spherical peppers, small in size, without additives or preservatives. Their color progresses from green to orange and finally to glossy red when ripe. Drying fully preserves their pungency and aroma.
Botanical & Historical identity
Belongs to the species Capsicum frutescens, family Solanaceae. Wiri Wiri is considered the national pepper of Guyana — for Guyanese, it is what Habanero is for the rest of the Caribbean. It is also cultivated in Mexico, but its authentic identity lies in the humid, tropical forests of Guyana.
