Inca Pyramid Salt 0.5-1.5mm
Inca Pyramid Salt is one of the most impressive finishing salts available. Its flakes have the characteristic pyramid shape—hollow from bottom to top, measuring 0.5-1.5mm—and deliver an excellent crunchy sensation when they dissolve in the mouth. It comes from salt pans in South America, using traditional solar evaporation and handmade collection methods.
The salt we use
We use dried pyramid-shaped sea salt flakes without chemical processing or caking agents. Natural evaporation preserves all the trace elements and minerals of the seawater—magnesium, potassium, and calcium. The grain size of 0.5-1.5mm makes it ideal for finishing: it doesn't dissolve immediately but delivers a crunchy sensation and gradual saltiness to the dish.
Geographical identity
It originates from salt pans in the Andes of South America—mainly in Southern Bolivia and Peru. Seawater is collected in special pans, and evaporation occurs due to the sun and wind, leaving behind the dark, pyramid-shaped crystals. Collection is done exclusively by hand, without mechanical processing, a practice that has remained unchanged since Inca times. The unique geography and climate of the Andes give the salt its unique mineralogical composition.
Aroma, color and taste
The flakes are white to slightly off-white with a natural luster in the light—their characteristic pyramidal morphology makes them visually stunning on any dish. Their taste is mild, a clean saltiness without a metallic aftertaste, with a slight sweetness that emerges as they dissolve. It enhances the flavor of ingredients without overpowering them—this is the desired characteristic of a good finishing salt. Its aroma is neutral—simply pure, open saltiness.
How to use it
It is used exclusively as a finishing salt—sprinkled on the dish just before serving. It is not suitable for cooking or in boiling water, because heat and humidity destroy its pyramidal morphology. Ideal for roasted and grilled meats (steak, roast beef), fish and seafood, ricotta, but also in desserts such as chocolate and caramel where it impressively enhances sweet flavors. Pairings
With roasted salmon, the delicate saltiness and crunchy texture of the pyramids enhance the subtle flavor of the fish. With ricotta and Italian dishes, it provides instant saltiness with an impressive texture. With chocolate and caramel, it creates an impressive sweet-bitter contrast that enhances sweetness. With butter and raw vegetables, it brings out the natural flavors without overpowering them. With boiled eggs, the finishing is noticeable from the first bite.
Natural appearance
The pyramid flakes are white to slightly off-white, with a natural luster in the light. Their characteristic hollow shape makes them visually stunning on any dish. Grain size 0.5-1.5mm: large enough to be noticeable in the mouth, small enough not to overwhelm the texture of the food.
Storage
Store in a cool, dark place, in an airtight container, away from moisture and direct sunlight. It remains undisturbed for years under proper conditions.
Precautions
Does not contain allergens. Like all salts, excessive sodium consumption increases blood pressure and cardiac function. Use it in moderation as a finishing salt and not as an everyday table salt.
